Dollar Thrifty announces delay on decision

The high profile takeover case of car rental group Dollar Thrifty will continue after the group announced it was delaying its decision.
Executives at Dollar Thrifty have decided to reschedule the shareholder meeting that was to take place on August 18 for September 16, as they require more time to evaluate the $1.3 billion offer from Hertz. Their scheduling of the August date had been based upon a perceived understanding of industry practices and rules.

Men feel unsafe with partner driving

Male drivers have long been known to show concern when their partner gets behind the wheel.
Now, a new study has confirmed than more than one third of all men feel unsafe when the car is being driven by their other half.
The survey found that millions of men in the passenger seats spent long periods of time griping fast to the seat or pressing imaginary brake pedals as their partner began braking too late. Kingfisher joins oneworld alliance

Kingfisher Airlines is celebrating becoming part of the oneworld airline alliance. Chairman of the Indian based carrier, Vijay Mallya, signed an agreement to join the other members of oneworld last month and said that he was extremely pleased to have been asked to join the group. He added that in his opinion oneworld was the best airline alliance in the world and that Kingfisher would now have the opportunity of expanding the number of destinations it could offer to its passengers. The airline will now reach around 800 destinations in 150 countries around the globe, according to Mr Mallya.

Goldtrail collapse could leave holidaymakers waiting months for a refund

The collapse of tour operator, Goldtrail, is likely to leave thousands of holidaymakers waiting months for any kind of refund on holidays they have already booked. This will mean many will not be in a position to book another holiday with another travel agent this summer. For those already on holiday the Civil Aviation Authority says that it does not see any major disruption being experienced.
