Rent a car in France

Avis has announced that it is ready to launch its rival offer for the Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group. The car rental firm said Monday that it is prepared to top the already tabled $1.2 billion bid from Hertz for the takeover, with sources claiming the group would look at taking on further debt in order to enable the purchase.

Unite, the trade union behind the strikes by British Airways 12,000 strong cabin crew, intends to distribute leaflets to shareholders of the airline attending a meeting at London’s Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre today. The lobbying of the conference is an attempt by Unite to get BA chief executive, Willie Walsh, and the airline’s shareholders, to come to a compromise over working conditions, staffing levels and wages. Such factors have been the cause of a dispute between the airline and its cabin crew, which have gone on for the past 18 months.

France’s junior transport minister has hinted at the possibility of a fourth search to recover the flight recorders of the Air France jet which crashed into the Pacific on June 1 last year, killing all 228 people on board.
Dominique Bussereau, who was at an event attended by family members of the air crash victims, said that he was waiting to examine the latest findings, due to be published in September, of the BEA air accident investigation agency.
