UK holiday drivers encouraged to learn local road rules

UK Holiday drivers have been encouraged to study road rules at their intended holiday destination this summer.
The advice was issued by the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM), which has urged holiday drivers to familiarise themselves with all of the laws in foreign countries if they plan on driving there, in order to avoid unnecessary charges, stress and even possible prosecution.

Avis expands in Vietnam

Leading Asian car rental organisation Avis has announced the launch of a new branch in Ho Chi Minh City.
Ho Chi Minh City, previously known as Saigon, is Vietnam’s economic, technology, science, commerce and industry hub and is the country’s leading financial driving force.
The opening in Ho Chi Minh City coincides with the Avis philosophy of expansion in the rapidly growing Southeast Asian market and aims to meet increasing demand of visitors to the region. The new outlet means that Avis is the sole international car rental outfit that serves two areas of the nation.

Air France announces job cuts

Air France has announced plans to slash more than 4,000 jobs by 2013. The airline claims that the cost cutting measure is necessary after it announced record losses for the 12 months to March. Air France is blaming financial problems caused by the global economic downturn.
An Air France spokeswoman said that currently the carrier was looking to lose 4,109 full-time staff members from ground and administration over the next three years. She added that the airline hoped to be able to do this by not replacing staff due to retire and by relying on voluntary redundancies.

Shane Warne attacks British Airways service via Twitter

Australian cricket legend, Shane Warne, has launched a scathing attack on the apparent quality of the British Airways’ service he received as he flew First Class with the airline to Las Vegas. Although, according to the airline’s schedule, there is no First Class cabin on any British Airways services flying directly to Las Vegas from London, Mr Warne was outraged.
